TricaB MyStory 4

In this series I give more details on the specific foods and drinks that I use; From Crystal light, to Ensure protein shake and some of my favorite snacks. I tried very hard to give visuals of the products I use. And of course my favorite morning cup of Tea! Love it. This is a substitute for coffee! I do love coffee but I try hard to practice discipline.

Happy Birthday "PaPa" Oliver

A man of strength, integrity and an enormous heart is hard to find but I can say that I am blessed to be connected to a man like all of the above: My grandfather, my papa. Words are limited for me to gather to describe the impact he has had on my life. God has blessed him to be known all over the world. He is a Father, husband, grandfather; uncle, preacher, evangelist, teacher, protector, humanitarian, community activist, philanthropist and friend just to name a few. He never meets a stranger. Though his height and stature can be intimating his heart is much bigger. Outside of being all of those "formal titles" he is FUN and a big kid at heart…There is never a dull or boring moment when we are together. Laughter is something he uses as a daily medicine. That explains where I get my extreme sense of humor.

I am so grateful that God has allowed him to see another birthday in good health. Today he turns 79 years young and God has shown him great favor. I am a firm believer in celebrating people while they are alive. And on that note my grandfather is the biggest party individual I know. He loves festivities and food; any reason to go out to dinner and celebrate is his M O. When you are in his presences he makes you feel like the most important person in the world. Being with him as a little girl was awesome because I was always treated like a “princess”. As a matter, of fact all of the women in his life are treated like royalty. The hospitality he shows to others can sometimes be mind boggling but now I know that is what makes him who he is. If he has it, he will give to you.

Pastor Milton Oliver would definitely be the perfect definition of humanitarian. Growing up as a child it was hard to share him with the world because he was traveling often. I did not realize the impact he was making in people lives from Haiti to Hawaii. He takes his work seriously; sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. His name carries so much strength and integrity and it feels good to know that he is leaving a positive impact in the world.

There are many positions and titles that he holds such as pastor and founder of Ambassadors for Christ Church of God in Christ. And the Vice president/Chairman of Jurisdictional Presidents in the International Department of Evangelism for the Church of God In Christ Inc. for over 40+ years. And to my knowledge he has served under every International Evangelist President. Some days I feel like he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves but God knows that his labor has not been in vain.

The work that he has done in the Church of God in Christ Inc. has been remarkable and I stand a very proud grand-daughter. So, for those that don’t know or have never heard of this powerful & influential man let me reintroduce to you Pastor Dr. Milton Oliver; My grandfather a true description of “Servant of God”.

Happy Birthday PaPa Oliver we celebrate you..!

Love to Pastel...

Last week I featured the red and white linen jacket just like this. "Red on Me" Don’t mean to sound like a broken record but blazers/jackets are the ultimate go-to for me. I have been able to play this jacket up or down, depending on the mood and occasion of course!
I picked this jacket up at Tuesday Morning Closeout sale for $2. If you can’t this jacket at any of the store locations you can always find a similar style at any Goodwill or Salvation Army stores.

This purse I adore. If you haven’t heard of Charming Charlie you must go! It is accessory paradise. Every time I enter that store immediately I go to my happy place. This purse was an unbelievable $9. And of course I could not let the purse sit on the shelf, it a needed home. Hehe

My stance on fashion is simple find an outfit that works and be creative with your budget. Take your budget, innovation/creativity and use it at any store. If it is a name brand store go directly to the clearance section. I do it all the time! Most of the time that exact same item will be clearance during off season. And if not at the store, it will most definitely be on-line to purchase.

I like trends but I do not always follow them because trends come and go. Why purchase something and the next year no longer trendy. To me that is a complete waste of money. Find pieces that can be relived over and over again. Put your own spin to it and make it work. And if all else fails go to the thrift stores. Trust me one can NEVER go wrong there!
